If you have a goal in mind, I’m usually the first person to encourage you to work hard and don’t stop until you’ve achieved it.
But over the years, I’ve learned another valuable lesson: you can’t reach your goals if you aren’t taking care of yourself in the first place.
As a leader, if you aren’t showing up to your place of business organized, calm, and with clarity, you’re doing the people that count on you a huge disservice.
In order to be all of these things, you’ve got to take care of yourself outside of work. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising regularly, you aren’t doing what you need to in order to be clear headed.
It sounds easy in theory, but from years of experience, I can guarantee you it’s not.
One way to make it more doable is by prioritizing great habits. It’s your job to show up game ready for your team and your clients, so give yourself the tools you need to make that happen.
