Staying Competitive in a Digital World

Do you need to be tech-savvy to run a law firm? Maybe. Maybe not.

However, as a business owner, you do need to understand what’s going on in your industry and how you can leverage these tools and technologies to stay competitive.

You cannot simply decide not to adopt those innovations because you don’t understand them.

These tools (cloud-based case management platform, voice over IP phone system, e-sign, and so on) often improve the client experience and make you more competitive.

Choosing not to understand them is no excuse.

Similarly with social media, willfully ignoring these trends is a poor approach because that’s where the consumers are focusing their attention.

To an extent, you do have a responsibility to understand these tools and platforms, but it doesn’t mean you need to be the resident “techie.” If nothing else, appoint somebody on your team who is passionate about those things and can keep you in the loop.

But at the end of the day, if you’re going to own all aspects of your business (as you should), you need to keep your finger on the pulse of these innovations — not only in your firm, but also in your industry

That way, you will be equipped to provide better service, a better client experience, and become more competitive.
