Stop Guessing. Start Tracking.

You track the numbers in your business, so why wouldn’t you track the numbers that determine how you show up for it?

Most entrepreneurs understand the value of KPIs, dashboards, revenue targets, and all sorts of other data at work. Knowledge is power. But when it comes to their health, one of the most vital resources they have, they suddenly forget the importance of those same principles.

You eat what you think is healthy. You work out only when you have time. You assume you’re getting enough protein, fiber, and vitamins, but have no real results that prove it.

Sound familiar? Then you’ve abandoned your well-being and health to guesswork and improvisation when, in reality, it needs to be a strategy.

I learned how useless this method is the hard way.

After years of nonstop work and treating recovery and nutrition as an afterthought, I decided to get a blood test to assess the baseline of my health. The results were a massive wake-up call: I desperately needed to reprioritize my health.

Yes, I over-prioritized my work, but a major contributing factor to my poor health was the fact that I ate, slept, and worked out based on whatever and whenever I felt like it. No clear schedule, no plan, no intentionality behind meal choices. Clearly, my intuition was off.

Now, I use an app to track what I eat, including measuring my protein intake. I walk every morning, sometimes getting 15,000 or 20,000 steps before the day really gets going (making sure a health app confirms the number). I strength train with basic compound movements, kettlebells, dumbbells, and bands. I use Eight Sleep to improve and measure the quality of my rest.

What works for me may not (and probably won’t) work for you; everybody is different. But we all need some combination of fitness, nutrition, rest, and recovery to function at our best. And to find your perfect combination, you need to document and measure.

Did your doctor recommend you increase your fiber intake? Then calculate it based on your daily meals and, if need be, adjust your diet. Do you need to lose or gain some weight? You can’t do it without making sure you’re in a caloric deficit or surplus, which can only happen by counting them.

Guessing isn’t an action plan. You can’t feel your way to better vitals, a stronger immune system, or an improved cardiovascular system. Keep walking until your app says you hit 10,000 steps instead of stopping once you ‘feel like it’s been 10K.’ You need an intentionally balanced diet that prioritizes nutrients your body is missing.

Your health is too important to leave to guesswork. It’s a vital part of not just your life, but also the quality of your work. You track your business because you want it to perform better. Your body deserves the same level of attention.
